Victory - Tennessee Day

So this is it! The movers have come and gone, as has most of our stuff. The rest is going into suitcases as I type. This time tomorrow (dinnertime) we will be in Indiana, and will have bid farewell to Tennessee, which has been our home for a long time (In Matt's case, 24 years, three months, twenty one days, but I'll try not to belabor the point).

Anyway, I'm hoping more people are checking the blog, and feel free to comment if you are! I'll take this time to say a special thanks to everyone who took the time to meet with us this past week, and those that ate and hugged and gave us awesome gifts on Sunday!!! Also, thanks in advance to those coming to the cookout and to see us this next week, before the final day in the US!!!

Stay tuned, though I'll say in advance that updates will be sparse until we've settled and got internet up and running. At that time, log-on at your own risk, as pictures and stories will abound!!!

Scotland, here we come!!!!!!!!

It's really real

We're going to be living in Scotland in 26 days and every time I think about that I can't help doing a happy dance. Although, it's actually a bit strange to think about because it's not just a hypothetical anymore. It's a reality. We're moving... to a different country... for a long time...woah. I'm still thrilled by that thought but the realities of leaving are starting to hit and now it feels bittersweet.

I hate to leave everyone here, but I'm excited for us to take advantage of this great opportunity. I'm going to miss everyone, but that's why we started this blog, have facebook, skype, and probably other means of communication. Just because Matt and I won't be in the country doesn't mean we don't still want to be a part of your lives. (yes, I know I used way to many negatives in that sentence.) We want to hear your stories and you know that we want to fill you in on ours. We also look forward to visits from friends and family!

Now, onto packing...

Sweet Home…..Edinburgh!!!

We just secured our first home, in Scotland! How exciting is that?!

This ground floor flat has one bedroom, 1.5 bath, a full living room with dining nook, full kitchen with both dishwasher and washing machine, and a gas fireplace! Also, there is a private garden in front!

Our address is going to be:

9 Alva Place

Abbeyhill

Edinburgh

EH7 5AZ

We are so excited about this! Also, we've now submitted everything for our visas, and they should be approved soon!

Well, here's some photos for you to enjoy:

Here’s some outside images of the flat’s garden.  Ours is the white door and the tree.

Follow us as we live our Scotland adventure

Hola todos!

Most of you know that Matt and I are planning to move to Scotland in September and we decided to start a blog to keep everyone updated on our lives while we're gone. If you hadn't heard what our plans are, here's a quick summary:

I will be attending the University of Edinburgh to get my Masters in Art History and Matt will be working. Next fall, after I finish my degree, Matt will attend the University of St. Andrews to get his Masters in Modern History.

Right now, we are still in the process of getting all of the details in order to move. We are awaiting our visas (so, please pray that our applications go through without complications!) and searching for housing in the city. We have found some wonderful places, and are just waiting to hear back about them. Basically, we are playing the waiting game for a lot of things.

We hope to update this blog at least once a week or so. Stay tuned!
